  1. Hi Musings,

I think that limiting beliefs can be things we consciously think, such as a poor opinion of ourself or our abilities. Many of us had damaging words programmed into us while we were young.

In order to find our best life, we all need to identify and get rid of those limiting beliefs we have. One way to do this is to think about the goal we are pursuing. Take some time to think about how the belief is wrecking your chances at success. Then work toward replacing limiting beliefs with positive affirmations.

  2. Hi Ben,

Limiting beliefs can be a bit of a challenge. I would add two things to what you have said.

    1. I think that they don’t only come from bad programming when we were young. I think we can also create our own limiting beliefs at an early age by interpreting our experience through the limited wisdom and judgement of a child’s point of view.

    2. If they were concious all the time that would be great we could knock them out very easily. Unfortunately the ones with the greatest impact are lucking below our concious awareness doing there work without us noticing. Spotting the limiting belief is the challenge.

Having a goal is a good way bringing limiting beliefs to the surface.

Steve Wells an Australian EFTer says there are three good ways to bring limiting beliefs to the surface.

    1. Get into a relationship
    2. Choose a big audacious goal
    3. Pay attention to all the people you don’t like or resent – they are rubbing up against your beliefs.

    Thanks for the comment.
