    Hi Andy
these are really interesting and helpful exercises, thankyou.
After I got over feeling pleased with myself (!) that all my values for my aspirations were the same (only in different order of priority), I then noticed an odd thing. One of my aspirations was dependent mainly upon ‘circumstance’, whereas the rest were mainly up to me. I only noticed this as I was thinking about the issue you had regarding one of your values.
Hmm. One of my major aspirations, so important to me that I include it every year on my list, is majorly dependent upon issues beyond my influence. Not surprising then, that I get a sense of disappointment or failure and self criticism with this one never working out, I guess?
Well, this is a bit of a breakthrough!
    Thanks!
When is the next part of your article? (Party of the 3rd Part??)

  2. Glad to hear your finding the exercises useful (as I am). I do think a lot of these values lurk behind the scenes as the ‘guiding hands’ of behaviour finding out about them and doing something about them is a very helpful change to our guidance system.

Years ago when I did a lot of hill walking it was an important part of navigation to make sure that you didn’t have any bits of metal near your compass (in the days before GPS) or the needle would be diverted from North and you would be diverted along with it. I think those extraneous values are like bits of metal inadvertently deflecting our compasses and our paths through life.

With a bit of luck and a following wind, the next part will appear some time this coming week.

  3. Hi Andy,
Thanks for this – I like it’s simplicity. I think ‘Values solitaire’ is great, and although I’ve used techniques for prioritising values before I have never seen this EFT approach.
Something else new for me to do!
    Kim

  4. Thanks Kim,

There is more and your comment has reminded me that I need to get on and write it. :)
