Chocolate, cigarettes, nail-biting and other compulsive habits can be very frustrating, sometimes willpower alone is just not enough. After this course you will have a way to reduce or even eliminate those compulsions so that you may not need any willpower to make those changes.
What is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) invented by Gary Craig is one of the new ‘Energy Psychology’ methods that are spreading around the world. It’s easy to learn and use and has a high rate of success. Recently you may have seen Paul McKenna on GMTV relieving a variety of phobias using a ‘tapping’ method, EFT is one such technique.
EFT is a simple, yet very effective, healing process that uses your body’s built in stress relief system. By tapping with your fingertips on the ends of acupuncture meridians you can reduce, or eliminate, all types of negative emotions including fears, anger, phobias, grief, traumatic memories, stress and anxiety. EFT can also relieve many physical conditions that may have an emotional component, such as headaches, muscle stiffness, pain, food cravings, smoking, itching and nail-biting.
This EFT Level 1+ training is a two day course covering the AAMET Level 1 syllabus. It is designed to give you a thorough introduction to EFT and give you the skills and confidence to use it beyond the training room.
Traditionally EFT Level 1 trainings take place over one day, however the EFT Level 1+ training is split over two days (usually successive Saturdays) because:
1. There is a lot to learn
There is a large amount of information and techniques to fit into a one day training. To cover the ground in the time available means that you don’t have much time to explore the techniques in much detail. It’s a whistle-stop tour through the basics, working with memories, dealing with cravings, and using EFT with physical issues. That is a lot of material to cover in a short space of time and it’s difficult to do it justice in one day.
2. To learn EFT you need to practice.
You can learn about EFT in a day, to learn how to use EFT you need to practice. The more practice you get the more you learn. In a one day Level 1 training it is only possible to give a limited amount of practical experience in the time available. In two days there is more time to practice, reflect on, and discuss what you are doing.
3. Practice gives confidence.
Many people are bowled over by the results of EFT during a one day training. They are amazed and inspired by what they learn during the day, but when they get home they are not sure how to put their learning into practice without the trainer to ask. You need to have the practice to gain confidence in what you are doing and how to do it so that you can use it for yourself.
How Does This Work?
Day 1: The Training Day
The first day is the EFT Level 1 training itself. You will learn all about EFT and how to use it in daily life. This day follows the AAMET EFT Level 1 syllabus including:
- Introduction to EFT and “The Basic Recipe”
- Principles of EFT and the “simple version”
- Working on everyday problems with EFT.
- How to neutralise unpleasant memories with EFT.
- Working with cravings and physical issues.
- How to use EFT in daily life.
Important: These EFT Level 1+ Training courses are designed to show you how to use EFT to relieve your own issues and to do simple work with family and friends. This is not a substitute for personal therapy, nor will it train you to be an EFT therapist in your own right, though you may use the certificate to attend an EFT Level 2 course for further training.
The course includes a full manual and all training materials. At the end of the training day you will receive an AAMET EFT Level 1 Attendance Certificate which is required if you want to progress to the EFT Level 2 training to add EFT to your professional tool box.
Taking the training day is just the start. To be good at something you need to practice and that’s where day 2 comes in.
Day 2: The Practice Day
Having learnt the basics on the training day this is where you put them into practice, learning how to use what you learnt on the training day.
The practice day is divided into 4 sections:
- Dealing with everyday problems.
- Neutralising unpleasant memories.
- Reducing anxiety about forthcoming events.
- Using EFT to ease difficult relationships.
The practice day is also an excellent opportunity to ask questions, understanding, get feedback and develop your EFT skills.
The practice day is open to anyone who has attained an AAMET or AMT EFT Level 1 certificate or higher. If you have an EFT Level 1 certificate this is an excellent opportunity to practice using EFT for your own self development and to boost your skills.
If you are an EFT Level 2 practitioner this is an excellent way to develop your skills and earn CPD points.
Do I have to do both days? – Not necessarily, if you want the bare minimum and you are good at experimenting with techniques by yourself the EFT Level 1 day will be good enough. If you want to get good at using EFT for yourself and others then you need to practice and the easiest way to practice is with other people and with someone on hand who you can ask questions.
What people are saying.
“I first got interested in EFT after a friend of mine overcame her fear of flying by working with Andy. I was bowled over by EFT when I first started to use it after learning it from manuals on the Internet. It seemed pretty weird but it worked so well! So I wanted to use it in my work with people with common mental health problems … The course was matter of fact, fun and easy to follow … for the price it was one of the best training days I have ever enjoyed and extremely useful too”
“I think the pace of the course was good. There is nothing worse than sitting through endless bits of theory when you’re itching to get going on the practical…so it was great that you soon had us tapping away!”
“The Level 1 course was fantastic. Lots of ’stuff’ to work on both on the day and afterwards. I particularly appreciate the ‘craving’ technique as I’m now totally Pringle free. No craving, no desire, nothing. How good is that? … There was nothing about the day I did not enjoy or feel could be done better. The group size was small and that possibly made my enjoyment more memorable. Your style was informal and informative.”
“Working in pairs – tapping together. It was really useful that the group had a varying background and different motivations for attending”
“Excellent day. Very interactive with lots of practice. Will highly recommend this to colleagues.”
“Really enjoyed practising technique with people haven’t met before. Didn’t really know very much about EFT – very impressed with simplicity and results”
“The simplicity of it. How Andy explains it in such a down to earth, practical yet humorous way. I got to release loads, so easily and quickly, thanks.”
